How to Calculate the Market Price of a Used Car in Pakistan
There is no official number
The market value of a used car is whatever a willing buyer and a willing seller agree on today. It moves with supply, demand, fuel prices and the season. What you can do is estimate it well and check your figure against reality.
Step one: build a baseline from comparables
Find several cars currently advertised that match yours on make, model, variant, year and roughly mileage. Note the range of asking prices. Because advertised prices usually sit a little above where deals close, expect the real number to be slightly below the middle of that range.
Step two: adjust for your specific car
Better-than-average condition, full service history and original body and paint push you toward the top of the range. Higher mileage for the age, visible wear, or accident history push you toward the bottom or below it. Be honest here — buyers will find what you gloss over.
Step three: adjust for the file
A clean registration book and a straightforward transfer history are worth real money, because the buyer is also buying a smooth transfer. A complicated file or an outstanding token issue drags the number down.
Step four: sanity-check with the market
If you are selling and want the market to tell you the number directly, list to several dealers at once and compare their offers. On Motrade you can do this and also compare live dealer listings on the marketplace for the same model.
