Golden rules
- Never pay an advance or "token money" for a car you haven't seen.
- Keep the deal on Motrade so the price is locked and the car is reserved for you.
- Check that the documents match the car's chassis and engine numbers before paying.
- Pay the showroom, not an individual's personal account, and get a receipt.
- Meet at the dealer's showroom or a public place in daylight.
- Motrade will never ask for your password or a verification code.
Red flags
- A price far below the market.
- Pressure to decide or pay today.
- Asking you to move to another app or pay by gift card.
- Refusing an inspection.
